Hey Dizzi,
Seen some of your videos on You Tube and really dug 'em. I'm a percussionist/multi instrumentalist and I've fallen in love with the hammered dulcimer as well as the hang. Played both but haven't purchased either yet. I did pick up the Handsonic and am intrigued by the possibilities of electro/acoustic combinations. It's inspiring for me to see you out there doing what you're doing. Hope we get a chance to jam sometime! That bass dulcimer is just awesome sounding, I'd love to hear more of that. All the best from Seattle, Kai Ariel. PS- I just found these little marimba type things called "Freenotes" that I think you might dig. :) |

Thanks Dizzi.
So glad to find your website. It will help me a lot as I learn to play the dulcimer, my brother made for me.
I live in Northern Canada, but my brother took me to the ODPC Funfest in Michigan five years ago. I love
the sound...most beautiful of any sound. When Lucy played Amazing Grace it put me in touch with a sound
out of this world. Do you know Lucy Reily; calls herself the dulcimerlady? You are my link, online, with
other players. Thanks so much!!!! |

Hey Dizzi from Minneapolis, MN, USA. I saw your youtube videos and am just such a fan of yours now. Your work is amazing and so inspiring. I have been wanting to learn to play a dulcimer for years, and not knowing what I was doing, bought a piece of junk dulcimer from a guy who made it himself. It was so frustrating because it wouldn't tune at all amd literally fell apart, so I lost years of possibilites through that fiasco. Now I am going to look into getting a "real" one. Your lessons are so clear and easy to understand that I have gotten reinspired to give it a try again. Now I feel like I will at least be able to approach the instrument with more knowledge and understanding. When I can afford to buy a dulcimer I will try to order your instuctional CD's. Thank you so much for being on youtube and sharing your gift with the world. Happy 2009! |

I've watched all the movies on YouTube with you playing it. Was it hard for you to learn how to play? Thanks for sharing it!!! |

Hey there.
I'm into all sorts of different music, but stumbled across one of your video's at youtube.
I never heard of this instrument before, but the music is simply fantastic! Especially the "Magic" and "Fantasy" songs caught my attention.
So glad that there are people out there who have not been caught by the mainstream wave. Keep up the good music!

Hi Dizzi,
I'm so glad I found your YouTube videos and your Website. My girlfriend and I were discussing Medieval English and she found you videos in trying to see what the song "Summer is a-coming in" might have sounded like. Thank you for such lovely music. My next stop after this is to buy your album of children's songs.
Best wishes for your continued success.

Dizzi,
I love your site. I first saw you on Youtube and was fasinated. Just this week I purchased a used hammered dulcimer and was a bit daunted at first. Then I remembered your site and your instructions. They are so easy to follow and I am leaning so much from you. I am also learning to read music so I can play more songs. Hope to see you perform in person one day. (My other dream is to tour the British Isles to learn about my family history). I am also learning the play the mountain dulcimer with a local group.
I look forward to seeing more on your website in the future.

I first heard a dulcimer played many many years ago. It was on a talent show on the radio called Carol Levis Discoveries. Anyone who can recall that show must, like me, be pretty creaky round the joints. It was being played by a young girl and I was quite taken with the sound of this instrument. I have often been tempted to buy one but I put it off and instead I took up playing other instruments. Whilst idly surfing the internet for musical inspiration for some animations I am working on, I happened upon some YT videos featuring one Dizzi playing the dulcimer like I had never heard it played before. I was hooked. I have now ordered a dulcimer and look forward to the challenge of mastering it. I like your site Dizzi. |

Dearest Dizzi,
i am from Singapore and my breath was immediately taken away when i saw your videos on youtube playing your lovely hammered dulcimer, it was truly a spectacle to me. like you, i am very interested in percussion and i had absolutely no idea of what a hang drum was. i love the sound of it a lot, thank you for sharing this instrument with us (: i too, play a very similar hammered dulcimer like the one you are playing. in chinese, we call it 'Yang Qin'. i started playing it two years ago in my school's Chinese Orchestra and i started learning from a renowned Yang Qin soloist, and i am sitting for my grade 6 examination come this november, which is the first grading examination that a am sitting for. i feel am glad that we have a common passion. take care!
with love,

how wonderful to have unexpectedly found your site. I was reviewing hammer dulcimer YouTube videos and found yours. You are truly gifted and it was a joy listening to you on hammer dulcimer, but especially on the hang drum. simply beautiful! very inspirational to an old percussionist who works in a business career. I can't wait to spend more time combing your site and hearing more. God Bless you! |

Your music is truly amazing! I can feel what you want to say through your playing...I am interested in the River Flow, Mermaid and Folk Jig songs on CD; I went to your shop on this website and was unsure what CD these certain songs were on...If you could let me know I would like to purchase one. Thanks. Keep playing! |
|
I am so excited about the dulcimer I have ordered. I keep watching your videos on youtube. I have a friend who plays a hang and my son has various guitars, a didge and a ukelele so we are looking forward to some musical experiments. Thank you Dizzi |

We bought our son a Russell Cook 15-14 Master Works hammered dulcimer for his 12th birthday. He had shown a gift for music on my piano, had asked about playing the drums...so we chose the dulcimer as something that might satisfy both. :) As we expected (and much to our delight) he has "taken off", with the help of your fine and clear video lessons. So, today we purchased your Vol.2 DVD and we thank you so very much for sharing your gifts of music and teaching with us.
By the way, my husband and I had opportunity to visit in your country 8 years ago and found it to be refreshingly clean and uncluttered and lovely.
In gratitude, Leslie and son, Micah from Texas, USA |

It was purely by chance I came across Dizzi and her Dulcimer tonight. What a beautiful instrument! I love the timbre of the sound tremendously and I am definitely a fan. I never heard about this instrument before tonight. WOW! |

Hi Dizzi, I fell in love with dulcimer music 25 years ago. I finally took the plunge last week and bought a 16/16 chromatic. I am a true beginner and find your lessons on youtube to be a great help. Thank you so much for posting them because I live so far from any town, going to lessons would not be practical.
Thank you for sharing! You are so talented musician and teacher.

Greetings from Largo, Florida -
I purchased a Thai khim about a year ago, which came with absolutely NO documentation other than tuning sheets (helpfully printed in Thai), although as a musician I found it pretty easy to pick up and play. It's all my boyfriend's fault - one night he played the concert video of Porcupine Tree's "Arriving Somewhere," followed by Dead Can Dance "Toward the Within," and I promptly spent the next two weeks online, blowing all the cash I could find on world instruments including the khim, an ocean harp, an Irish harp, a practice chanter and various other smaller instruments.
Truth be told, however, I've wanted a hammered dulcimer since I was a child. I happily found your videos on YouTube today and was pleased to learn more about how the instrument is tuned than I've been ale to gather from any other source I've researched. Thank you very much for posting them.
I do have one question regarding strings - mine are nowhere near needing replacement, but when I do, what is the best source for the correct type of wire? Mine is strung with brass wire, and though I know the proper gauge is critical, are there also different grades of wire? Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.
Thank you again for your music. You play beautifully.
Peace, Love and Light,
Cori |

Hi Dizzi, I saw you playing at Lulworth Castle - Spirit of the Countryside, last Sunday, I was amazed at the enchanting music you were so skillfully playing. Its the first time I had heard of the dulcimer and I love it! I bought one of your cd's and have been listening to it today, very inspiring music that really plays with your emotions. Hope to see you again soon, wishing you continued success and happiness.

Hi Dizzi, I'm a beginner and have been taking lessons in the U.S. for about 2 months. I love your web site and have enjoyed listening to your lessons so much that I just placed an order for both of your DVD lessons. Your music is inspiring and I've enjoyed listening to you play since last November. Would love to hear you play in person. Any chance of your coming to the U.S.A. to perform? I live in New England and fortunately there are several hammered dulcimer professionals in my region but I would still love to hear you in person.
Listening to your original compositions is a delight! Thank you for sharing them on YouTube!
Cheers, Nancy G. (New Hampshire, U.S.A.) |

You're absolutely amazing on the dulcimer. I had never even heard of it until I saw a class for it at a local college and searched it out on YouTube. Your music came up and I've been playing the air hammered dulcimer along with Suzanne ever since. ;o) Seriously though, I'm going to the music store tomorrow and renting a dulcimer. I'm suddenly completely infatuated, and I've never played music before. |

Hi Dizzi I saw an article about you in the Chew Valley paper today and was interested because you play the dulcimer. I just wondered if you had heard of Lindsay Buckland? He has a website which you might like to look at sometime. He plays a different sort of dulcimer to you - I am a complete novice about all of this, so probably sound a complete nerd (!) but his is a sort of vertical one and the sound is lovely, as is yours. He is an Australian street performer and I first heard of his music in Greece and loved it, as I do yours. Anyway, hope to see you perform one day.... Miche Dunstone (I am a portrait artist and have a website at www.michedunstone.co.uk if you are interested! |

Hi Dizzi,
Love the web site have put you in my favorites. I just love the sound that the dulcimer makes very harp like in it's quality, you may have guessed I'm a harper. I would love to learn to play the dulcimer especially as one of my heros Derek Bell the harper from the Chieftans also played the hammered dulcimer.
Keep on hammering!
Scott. |

Awesome! I first found your music on youTube, and now I want to learn Dulcimer! I am a cellist myself, but I would love to know more about the dulcimer. Baked potato! |
|
I would seriously love to hammer your dulcimer. Seriously now, you're fucking hot....better than Carol Vorderman...wait, even better than Sue Barker. I'm a bit of a drummer myself, I'm in a band called The Donde Stars. We should make sweet music together babe! Mikey T |

Dizzy,
Greetings from Nashville, TN. Just bought my first hammered dulcimer and found your site doing some research. Saw your lessons on You-tube. Great Stuff. Thanks for doing what your doing. |

Dear Dizzi,
am trying to get in touch with you about the forthcoming Clacton Festival. Please do drop me a line if you see this message, as I'd love to speak to you about it. All the best, Charlie |

Hi Dizzy, every time I HAVE to listen and look at your youtube movies and put them on my hyves, so all my friends can enjoy it!
It is such wonderfull music and I love to look at you while you are playing! I am a percussionist in Holland and for a living I give workshops for companies. If you want to look: www.percament.com (the field up here, did not accept my website)
After a high jump with my drum I fell on stage and could not play for 4 months. In that time I decided to play harp, an old wish, so that is why I got to your music.
I have 2 questions to you: for some companies I am looking for someone who could do percussionworkshops in England, would that be something for you? Then please contact me. The other question is, where can I find pictures of the dulcimers, so I can see what I buy?
Again: thank you for your music and being there, I think you make a lot of people happy!
